PORTRAITS OF THE UNDERBANKS

a place that makes itself

DIANNE – ST ANN’S HOSPICE

I grew up in a little village where the cows came down the road twice a day to be milked, so I like the city. I’ve lived here for two and a half years. You can get into Manchester, and you can get out into the countryside. When you come down the A6 you can see the hills.

I’ve volunteered for St Ann’s Hospice for seven years. I work full time so I come in on a Saturday. We’ve just had a big clean up. We’ve all worked hard, you used to not be able to see under those railings, it was all boxes.

It’s quite famous our book room. You can spend hours up there, just browsing. We’ve got some really old, really special books.

I’m a bit of a geek about planes. You see them going overhead. The flights from Qatar, the PIA from Pakistan. Yeah I’ve looked at them on the apps and you can see them.

I like meeting people. I’ll talk to anyone me!
